# Translation Ayah
1 By the Dawn, وَالْفَجْرِ
2 by the Ten Nights, وَلَيَالٍ عَشْرٍ
3 by the even and the odd, وَالشَّفْعِ وَالْوَتْرِ
4 and by the passing night, وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَسْرِ
5 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? هَلْ فِي ذَلِكَ قَسَمٌ لِّذِي حِجْرٍ
6 Have you not heard of how your Lord dealt with the tribe of 'Ad, أَلَمْ تَرَ كَيْفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ
7 the people of Iram, the city of many pillars, إِرَمَ ذَاتِ الْعِمَادِ
8 the like of which has never been created in the land, الَّتِي لَمْ يُخْلَقْ مِثْلُهَا فِي الْبِلَادِ
9 and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, وَثَمُودَ الَّذِينَ جَابُوا الصَّخْرَ بِالْوَادِ
10 and with Pharaoh of the stakes? وَفِرْعَوْنَ ذِي الْأَوْتَادِ
11 All of them committed excesses in their lands, الَّذِينَ طَغَوْا فِي الْبِلَادِ
12 and caused much corruption in them: فَأَكْثَرُوا فِيهَا الْفَسَادَ
13 so your Lord unleashed on them the scourge of punishment: فَصَبَّ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّكَ سَوْطَ عَذَابٍ
14 for, indeed, your Sustainer is ever on the watch! إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِالْمِرْصَادِ
15 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," فَأَمَّا الْإِنسَانُ إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ رَبُّهُ فَأَكْرَمَهُ وَنَعَّمَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَكْرَمَنِ
16 but when He tests him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Lord has disgraced me." وَأَمَّا إِذَا مَا ابْتَلَاهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَيْهِ رِزْقَهُ فَيَقُولُ رَبِّي أَهَانَنِ
17 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, كَلَّا بَل لَّا تُكْرِمُونَ الْيَتِيمَ
18 nor do you urge one another to feed the poor, وَلَا تَحَاضُّونَ عَلَى طَعَامِ الْمِسْكِينِ
19 and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak, وَتَأْكُلُونَ التُّرَاثَ أَكْلًا لَّمًّا
20 and you have a love of wealth which can never be satisfied. وَتُحِبُّونَ الْمَالَ حُبًّا جَمًّا
21 No indeed! When the earth is crushed and ground to dust, كَلَّا إِذَا دُكَّتِ الْأَرْضُ دَكًّا دَكًّا
22 when your Lord comes down with the angels, rank upon rank, وَجَاء رَبُّكَ وَالْمَلَكُ صَفًّا صَفًّا
23 and Hell is made to appear on that Day, then man will be mindful, but what will being mindful then avail him? وَجِيءَ يَوْمَئِذٍ بِجَهَنَّمَ يَوْمَئِذٍ يَتَذَكَّرُ الْإِنسَانُ وَأَنَّى لَهُ الذِّكْرَى
24 He will say, "Oh, would that I had provided beforehand for my life!" يَقُولُ يَا لَيْتَنِي قَدَّمْتُ لِحَيَاتِي
25 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, فَيَوْمَئِذٍ لَّا يُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُ أَحَدٌ
26 and none can bind with bonds like His! وَلَا يُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُ أَحَدٌ
27 [But to the righteous, God will say], "O soul at peace, يَا أَيَّتُهَا النَّفْسُ الْمُطْمَئِنَّةُ
28 return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. ارْجِعِي إِلَى رَبِّكِ رَاضِيَةً مَّرْضِيَّةً
29 Join My servants. فَادْخُلِي فِي عِبَادِي
30 Enter My Paradise." وَادْخُلِي جَنَّتِي
