# Translation Ayah
1 By the sky with its constellations, وَالسَّمَاء ذَاتِ الْبُرُوجِ
2 and by the promised Day, وَالْيَوْمِ الْمَوْعُودِ
3 by the Witness and the witnessed, وَشَاهِدٍ وَمَشْهُودٍ
4 destroyed were the people of the trench, قُتِلَ أَصْحَابُ الْأُخْدُودِ
5 the makers of the fuel-stoked fire! النَّارِ ذَاتِ الْوَقُودِ
6 They sat by it إِذْ هُمْ عَلَيْهَا قُعُودٌ
7 to watch what they were doing to the believers, وَهُمْ عَلَى مَا يَفْعَلُونَ بِالْمُؤْمِنِينَ شُهُودٌ
8 whom they hated for no other reason than that they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, وَمَا نَقَمُوا مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا أَن يُؤْمِنُوا بِاللَّهِ الْعَزِيزِ الْحَمِيدِ
9 to whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth. God is witness over all things. الَّذِي لَهُ مُلْكُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَاللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ شَهِيدٌ
10 Those who persecute the believing men and believing women, and then do not repent, will surely suffer the punishment of Hell, and the torment of burning. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ فَتَنُوا الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُؤْمِنَاتِ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَتُوبُوا فَلَهُمْ عَذَابُ جَهَنَّمَ وَلَهُمْ
11 But those who believe and do good deeds shall be rewarded with gardens watered by flowing rivers. That is the supreme triumph. إِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتٌ تَجْرِي مِن تَحْتِهَا الْأَنْهَارُ ذَلِكَ الْفَوْزُ الْكَبِيرُ
12 The grip of your Lord is indeed severe, إِنَّ بَطْشَ رَبِّكَ لَشَدِيدٌ
13 it is He who begins and repeats [His creation], إِنَّهُ هُوَ يُبْدِئُ وَيُعِيدُ
14 and He is the Forgiving and Loving One. وَهُوَ الْغَفُورُ الْوَدُودُ
15 The Lord of the Glorious Throne, ذُو الْعَرْشِ الْمَجِيدُ
16 Executor of His own will. فَعَّالٌ لِّمَا يُرِيدُ
17 Have you not heard the story of the hosts هَلْ أَتَاكَ حَدِيثُ الْجُنُودِ
18 of Pharaoh and Thamud? فِرْعَوْنَ وَثَمُودَ
19 Yet those who deny the truth persist in denial. بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا فِي تَكْذِيبٍ
20 God encompasses them from all sides. وَاللَّهُ مِن وَرَائِهِم مُّحِيطٌ
21 It is indeed a glorious Quran, بَلْ هُوَ قُرْآنٌ مَّجِيدٌ
22 written on a preserved Tablet. فِي لَوْحٍ مَّحْفُوظٍ
