# Translation Ayah
1 Was there not a period of time when man was nothing worth mentioning? هَلْ أَتَى عَلَى الْإِنسَانِ حِينٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ يَكُن شَيْئًا مَّذْكُورًا
2 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; إِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْإِنسَانَ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ أَمْشَاجٍ نَّبْتَلِيهِ فَجَعَلْنَاهُ سَمِيعًا بَصِيرًا
3 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. إِنَّا هَدَيْنَاهُ السَّبِيلَ إِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَإِمَّا كَفُورًا
4 [Now,] behold, for those who deny the truth, We have prepared chains, iron collars and a blazing fire, but إِنَّا أَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكَافِرِينَ سَلَاسِلَا وَأَغْلَالًا وَسَعِيرًا
5 the righteous shall drink from a cup mixed with the coolness of kafur, إِنَّ الْأَبْرَارَ يَشْرَبُونَ مِن كَأْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُورًا
6 a spring from which God's servants will drink, making it gush forth in branches. عَيْنًا يَشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللَّهِ يُفَجِّرُونَهَا تَفْجِيرًا
7 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; يُوفُونَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَيَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهُ مُسْتَطِيرًا
8 they give food, despite their love for it, to the poor and orphans and captives, وَيُطْعِمُونَ الطَّعَامَ عَلَى حُبِّهِ مِسْكِينًا وَيَتِيمًا وَأَسِيرًا
9 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. إِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللَّهِ لَا نُرِيدُ مِنكُمْ جَزَاء وَلَا شُكُورًا
10 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." إِنَّا نَخَافُ مِن رَّبِّنَا يَوْمًا عَبُوسًا قَمْطَرِيرًا
11 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, فَوَقَاهُمُ اللَّهُ شَرَّ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ وَلَقَّاهُمْ نَضْرَةً وَسُرُورًا
12 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. وَجَزَاهُم بِمَا صَبَرُوا جَنَّةً وَحَرِيرًا
13 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, مُتَّكِئِينَ فِيهَا عَلَى الْأَرَائِكِ لَا يَرَوْنَ فِيهَا شَمْسًا وَلَا زَمْهَرِيرًا
14 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. وَدَانِيَةً عَلَيْهِمْ ظِلَالُهَا وَذُلِّلَتْ قُطُوفُهَا تَذْلِيلًا
15 Vessels of silver and goblets of pure crystal will be passed round among them وَيُطَافُ عَلَيْهِم بِآنِيَةٍ مِّن فِضَّةٍ وَأَكْوَابٍ كَانَتْ قَوَارِيرَا
16 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, قَوَارِيرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ قَدَّرُوهَا تَقْدِيرًا
17 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, وَيُسْقَوْنَ فِيهَا كَأْسًا كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا زَنجَبِيلًا
18 from a flowing spring called Salsabil. عَيْنًا فِيهَا تُسَمَّى سَلْسَبِيلًا
19 They will be attended by youths who will not age -- when you see them you will think them to be like sprinkled pearls -- وَيَطُوفُ عَلَيْهِمْ وِلْدَانٌ مُّخَلَّدُونَ إِذَا رَأَيْتَهُمْ حَسِبْتَهُمْ لُؤْلُؤًا مَّنثُورًا
20 wherever you look, you will see bliss and a great kingdom: وَإِذَا رَأَيْتَ ثَمَّ رَأَيْتَ نَعِيمًا وَمُلْكًا كَبِيرًا
21 they will wear green garments of fine silk and rich brocade. They will be adorned with silver bracelets. And their Lord will give them a pure drink. عَالِيَهُمْ ثِيَابُ سُندُسٍ خُضْرٌ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٌ وَحُلُّوا أَسَاوِرَ مِن فِضَّةٍ وَسَقَاهُمْ رَبُّهُمْ شَرَابًا طَهُورًا
22 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. إِنَّ هَذَا كَانَ لَكُمْ جَزَاء وَكَانَ سَعْيُكُم مَّشْكُورًا
23 Truly, it is We who have revealed to you the Quran, a gradual revelation. إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا عَلَيْكَ الْقُرْآنَ تَنزِيلًا
24 So wait patiently for the command of your Lord, and do not yield to anyone among them who is sinful or ungrateful; فَاصْبِرْ لِحُكْمِ رَبِّكَ وَلَا تُطِعْ مِنْهُمْ آثِمًا أَوْ كَفُورًا
25 and glorify your Lord morning and evening; وَاذْكُرِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ بُكْرَةً وَأَصِيلًا
26 and during the night prostrate ourself before Him, and extol His glory for a long part of the night. وَمِنَ اللَّيْلِ فَاسْجُدْ لَهُ وَسَبِّحْهُ لَيْلًا طَوِيلًا
27 Those people [who are unmindful of God] aspire for immediate gains, and put behind them a Heavy Day. إِنَّ هَؤُلَاء يُحِبُّونَ الْعَاجِلَةَ وَيَذَرُونَ وَرَاءهُمْ يَوْمًا ثَقِيلًا
28 It was We who created them and made their constitution strong, but if We wish we can replace them with others like them. نَحْنُ خَلَقْنَاهُمْ وَشَدَدْنَا أَسْرَهُمْ وَإِذَا شِئْنَا بَدَّلْنَا أَمْثَالَهُمْ تَبْدِيلًا
29 This is a reminder. Let whoever wishes, take the right path to his Lord. إِنَّ هَذِهِ تَذْكِرَةٌ فَمَن شَاء اتَّخَذَ إِلَى رَبِّهِ سَبِيلًا
30 But you cannot will it unless God wills [to show you that way] -- God is indeed all-knowing and wise -- وَمَا تَشَاؤُونَ إِلَّا أَن يَشَاء اللَّهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ عَلِيمًا حَكِيمًا
31 He admits whoever He will into His grace and has prepared a painful punishment for the evil doers. يُدْخِلُ مَن يَشَاء فِي رَحْمَتِهِ وَالظَّالِمِينَ أَعَدَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابًا أَلِيمًا
