# Translation Ayah
1 When heaven is rent asunder إِذَا السَّمَاء انشَقَّتْ
2 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
3 when earth is stretched out وَإِذَا الْأَرْضُ مُدَّتْ
4 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, وَأَلْقَتْ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتْ
5 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed! وَأَذِنَتْ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتْ
6 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. يَا أَيُّهَا الْإِنسَانُ إِنَّكَ كَادِحٌ إِلَى رَبِّكَ كَدْحًا فَمُلَاقِيهِ
7 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, فَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ
8 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning فَسَوْفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابًا يَسِيرًا
9 and he will return to his family joyfully. وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَى أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا
10 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, وَأَمَّا مَنْ أُوتِيَ كِتَابَهُ وَرَاء ظَهْرِهِ
11 he shall call for destruction فَسَوْفَ يَدْعُو ثُبُورًا
12 and he shall roast at a Blaze. وَيَصْلَى سَعِيرًا
13 He once lived among his family joyfully; إِنَّهُ كَانَ فِي أَهْلِهِ مَسْرُورًا
14 he surely thought he would never revert. إِنَّهُ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ
15 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. بَلَى إِنَّ رَبَّهُ كَانَ بِهِ بَصِيرًا
16 No! I swear by the twilight فَلَا أُقْسِمُ بِالشَّفَقِ
17 and the night and what it envelops وَاللَّيْلِ وَمَا وَسَقَ
18 and the moon when it is at the full, وَالْقَمَرِ إِذَا اتَّسَقَ
19 you shall surely ride stage after stage. لَتَرْكَبُنَّ طَبَقًا عَن طَبَقٍ
20 Then what ails them, that they believe not, فَمَا لَهُمْ لَا يُؤْمِنُونَ
21 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِمُ الْقُرْآنُ لَا يَسْجُدُونَ
22 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, بَلِ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ
23 and God knows very well what they are secreting. وَاللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا يُوعُونَ
24 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, فَبَشِّرْهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ
25 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. إِلَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ وَعَمِلُواْ الصَّالِحَاتِ لَهُمْ أَجْرٌ غَيْرُ مَمْنُونٍ
