# Translation Ayah
1 I CALL THE night to witness when it covers over, وَاللَّيْلِ إِذَا يَغْشَى
2 And the day when it shines in all its glory, وَالنَّهَارِ إِذَا تَجَلَّى
3 And Him who created the male and female, وَمَا خَلَقَ الذَّكَرَ وَالْأُنثَى
4 That your endeavour is for different ends. إِنَّ سَعْيَكُمْ لَشَتَّى
5 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, فَأَمَّا مَن أَعْطَى وَاتَّقَى
6 And affirms goodness, وَصَدَّقَ بِالْحُسْنَى
7 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْيُسْرَى
8 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, وَأَمَّا مَن بَخِلَ وَاسْتَغْنَى
9 And rejects goodness, وَكَذَّبَ بِالْحُسْنَى
10 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, فَسَنُيَسِّرُهُ لِلْعُسْرَى
11 And his riches will not avail him when he falls headlong (into the Abyss). وَمَا يُغْنِي عَنْهُ مَالُهُ إِذَا تَرَدَّى
12 It is indeed for Us to show the way, إِنَّ عَلَيْنَا لَلْهُدَى
13 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. وَإِنَّ لَنَا لَلْآخِرَةَ وَالْأُولَى
14 So, I warn you of the blazing Fire. فَأَنذَرْتُكُمْ نَارًا تَلَظَّى
15 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, لَا يَصْلَاهَا إِلَّا الْأَشْقَى
16 Who denied (the truth) and turned away. الَّذِي كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى
17 But save him who fears وَسَيُجَنَّبُهَا الْأَتْقَى
18 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, الَّذِي يُؤْتِي مَالَهُ يَتَزَكَّى
19 And is under no one's obligation to return his favour, وَمَا لِأَحَدٍ عِندَهُ مِن نِّعْمَةٍ تُجْزَى
20 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, إِلَّا ابْتِغَاء وَجْهِ رَبِّهِ الْأَعْلَى
21 Will surely be gratified. وَلَسَوْفَ يَرْضَى
