# Translation Ayah
1 Ha Mim. حم
2 By the Book that makes things clear, وَالْكِتَابِ الْمُبِينِ
3 surely We sent it down on a blessed night, We have always sent warnings, إِنَّا أَنزَلْنَاهُ فِي لَيْلَةٍ مُّبَارَكَةٍ إِنَّا كُنَّا مُنذِرِينَ
4 on that night every wise decree is specified فِيهَا يُفْرَقُ كُلُّ أَمْرٍ حَكِيمٍ
5 by Our own command -- We have been sending messages, أَمْرًا مِّنْ عِندِنَا إِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ
6 as a mercy from your Lord, He hears all and knows all, رَحْمَةً مِّن رَّبِّكَ إِنَّهُ هُوَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُ
7 He is the Lord of heaven and earth and all that is between them, if only you would really believe, رَبِّ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا إِن كُنتُم مُّوقِنِينَ
8 there is no deity save Him: It is He who gives both life and death -- He is your Lord, and the Lord of your forefathers, لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا هُوَ يُحْيِي وَيُمِيتُ رَبُّكُمْ وَرَبُّ آبَائِكُمُ الْأَوَّلِينَ
9 yet, they toy with their doubts. بَلْ هُمْ فِي شَكٍّ يَلْعَبُونَ
10 Wait, then, for the Day when the sky brings forth plainly visible clouds of smoke. فَارْتَقِبْ يَوْمَ تَأْتِي السَّمَاء بِدُخَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
11 That will envelop the people. This will be a painful punishment. يَغْشَى النَّاسَ هَذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ
12 Then they will say, "Lord, relieve us from this torment, for truly we are now believers in You." رَبَّنَا اكْشِفْ عَنَّا الْعَذَابَ إِنَّا مُؤْمِنُونَ
13 How can they benefit from admonition, seeing that a messenger had already come to them explaining things clearly? أَنَّى لَهُمُ الذِّكْرَى وَقَدْ جَاءهُمْ رَسُولٌ مُّبِينٌ
14 Then they turned away from him and said, "He is a madman, taught by others!" ثُمَّ تَوَلَّوْا عَنْهُ وَقَالُوا مُعَلَّمٌ مَّجْنُونٌ
15 Were We to ease the torment for a while, you would still revert to denial of the truth. إِنَّا كَاشِفُو الْعَذَابِ قَلِيلًا إِنَّكُمْ عَائِدُونَ
16 On the Day We inflict the direst scourge upon all sinners, We will certainly exact retribution. يَوْمَ نَبْطِشُ الْبَطْشَةَ الْكُبْرَى إِنَّا مُنتَقِمُونَ
17 We tried the people of Pharaoh before them: a noble messenger was sent to them, وَلَقَدْ فَتَنَّا قَبْلَهُمْ قَوْمَ فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَاءهُمْ رَسُولٌ كَرِيمٌ
18 saying, "Hand over God's servants to me. I am a trustworthy messenger for you. أَنْ أَدُّوا إِلَيَّ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي لَكُمْ رَسُولٌ أَمِينٌ
19 Do not set yourselves above God: I bring you clear authority. وَأَنْ لَّا تَعْلُوا عَلَى اللَّهِ إِنِّي آتِيكُم بِسُلْطَانٍ مُّبِينٍ
20 I have sought refuge with my Lord and your Lord lest you stone me [to death]. وَإِنِّي عُذْتُ بِرَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمْ أَن تَرْجُمُونِ
21 If you do not believe in me, at least keep away from me." وَإِنْ لَّمْ تُؤْمِنُوا لِي فَاعْتَزِلُونِ
22 Then he cried out to his Lord, "These are sinful people." فَدَعَا رَبَّهُ أَنَّ هَؤُلَاء قَوْمٌ مُّجْرِمُونَ
23 God said, "Set out with My servants by night, for you will certainly be pursued. فَأَسْرِ بِعِبَادِي لَيْلًا إِنَّكُم مُّتَّبَعُونَ
24 Leave the sea behind you parted; they are a host destined to be drowned." وَاتْرُكْ الْبَحْرَ رَهْوًا إِنَّهُمْ جُندٌ مُّغْرَقُونَ
25 How many gardens and fountains they left behind them, كَمْ تَرَكُوا مِن جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
26 and cornfields and splendid buildings, وَزُرُوعٍ وَمَقَامٍ كَرِيمٍ
27 and pleasant things in which they delighted! وَنَعْمَةٍ كَانُوا فِيهَا فَاكِهِينَ
28 Such was their end, and what had been theirs We gave to other people to inherit. كَذَلِكَ وَأَوْرَثْنَاهَا قَوْمًا آخَرِينَ
29 Neither heaven nor earth wept for them, nor were they allowed any respite. فَمَا بَكَتْ عَلَيْهِمُ السَّمَاء وَالْأَرْضُ وَمَا كَانُوا مُنظَرِينَ
30 We saved the Children of Israel from their humiliating torment وَلَقَدْ نَجَّيْنَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الْعَذَابِ الْمُهِينِ
31 at the hands of Pharaoh: he was a tyrant who exceeded all bounds. مِن فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّهُ كَانَ عَالِيًا مِّنَ الْمُسْرِفِينَ
32 We knowingly chose them above all other people وَلَقَدِ اخْتَرْنَاهُمْ عَلَى عِلْمٍ عَلَى الْعَالَمِينَ
33 and showed them signs in which there was a clear test. وَآتَيْنَاهُم مِّنَ الْآيَاتِ مَا فِيهِ بَلَاء مُّبِينٌ
34 Yet those who deny the truth say, إِنَّ هَؤُلَاء لَيَقُولُونَ
35 there is nothing beyond our first death; we shall not be raised again. إِنْ هِيَ إِلَّا مَوْتَتُنَا الْأُولَى وَمَا نَحْنُ بِمُنشَرِينَ
36 So bring our fathers [back], if what you say is true. فَأْتُوا بِآبَائِنَا إِن كُنتُمْ صَادِقِينَ
37 Are they better than the people of Tubba' and those who came before them? We destroyed them, because they were guilty of sin. أَهُمْ خَيْرٌ أَمْ قَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ وَالَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ أَهْلَكْنَاهُمْ إِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا مُجْرِمِينَ
38 We did not idly create the heavens and the earth and all that lies between them; وَمَا خَلَقْنَا السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ وَمَا بَيْنَهُمَا لَاعِبِينَ
39 We did not create them save with a purpose, yet most people have no knowledge of this. مَا خَلَقْنَاهُمَا إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ
40 Truly, the Day of Decision is the appointed time for all of them, إِنَّ يَوْمَ الْفَصْلِ مِيقَاتُهُمْ أَجْمَعِينَ
41 the Day when no friend shall be of the least avail to another, nor shall any be helped, يَوْمَ لَا يُغْنِي مَوْلًى عَن مَّوْلًى شَيْئًا وَلَا هُمْ يُنصَرُونَ
42 save those to whom God shows mercy. Surely, He is the Mighty, the Merciful One. إِلَّا مَن رَّحِمَ اللَّهُ إِنَّهُ هُوَ الْعَزِيزُ الرَّحِيمُ
43 Surely the fruit of the Zaqqum tree إِنَّ شَجَرَةَ الزَّقُّومِ
44 shall be food for the sinners: طَعَامُ الْأَثِيمِ
45 like the dregs of oil, it shall boil in their bellies, كَالْمُهْلِ يَغْلِي فِي الْبُطُونِ
46 like the boiling of hot water. كَغَلْيِ الْحَمِيمِ
47 [A voice will cry], "Seize him and drag him into the midst of Hell. خُذُوهُ فَاعْتِلُوهُ إِلَى سَوَاء الْجَحِيمِ
48 Then pour boiling water over his head as punishment. ثُمَّ صُبُّوا فَوْقَ رَأْسِهِ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْحَمِيمِ
49 Taste this; you who considered yourself the mighty, the honourable! ذُقْ إِنَّكَ أَنتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْكَرِيمُ
50 This is what you doubted?" إِنَّ هَذَا مَا كُنتُم بِهِ تَمْتَرُونَ
51 But those mindful of God will be in a safe place, إِنَّ الْمُتَّقِينَ فِي مَقَامٍ أَمِينٍ
52 among gardens and springs, فِي جَنَّاتٍ وَعُيُونٍ
53 dressed in fine silk and in rich brocade, and they will face each other: يَلْبَسُونَ مِن سُندُسٍ وَإِسْتَبْرَقٍ مُّتَقَابِلِينَ
54 so it will be. We shall wed them to maidens with large, dark eyes. كَذَلِكَ وَزَوَّجْنَاهُم بِحُورٍ عِينٍ
55 They will call therein for every kind of fruit, in peace and security. يَدْعُونَ فِيهَا بِكُلِّ فَاكِهَةٍ آمِنِينَ
56 They will not taste death therein, save the first death. God will save them from the torment of Hell لَا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا الْمَوْتَ إِلَّا الْمَوْتَةَ الْأُولَى وَوَقَاهُمْ عَذَابَ الْجَحِيمِ
57 as an act of grace. That will be the supreme triumph. فَضْلًا مِّن رَّبِّكَ ذَلِكَ هُوَ الْفَوْزُ الْعَظِيمُ
58 We have made this Quran easy to understand, in your own language, so that they may take heed. فَإِنَّمَا يَسَّرْنَاهُ بِلِسَانِكَ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَتَذَكَّرُونَ
59 Wait then; they too are waiting. فَارْتَقِبْ إِنَّهُم مُّرْتَقِبُونَ
